A major milestone in this journey is the MoU signed between the School of Livelihood & Rural Development (SLRD) and the Department of Science, Technology & Climate Change. This partnership aims to accelerate climate change mitigation and adaptation, fostering climate-resilient cities and villages through research-driven solutions, community engagement, and supporting innovators to commercialize sustainable solutions in Assam.

Empowering Local Communities Through Innovation
One of the key objectives of this collaboration is to develop practical, research-based solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change, particularly through creating climate-resilient cities and villages. The partnership will engage communities at the grassroots level, ensuring that both urban and rural populations have the knowledge and resources to adapt to the changing climate and its associated challenges.
The School of Livelihood & Rural Development, known for its expertise in rural development and sustainable livelihoods, will work in tandem with ASTEC, a pioneering body in the state working to promote science, technology, and environmental initiatives. This collaboration will leverage scientific advancements and technological solutions to meet the local needs of communities while also driving innovation in sustainable practices. Furthermore, the partnership will focus on enhancing and supporting innovators to commercialize their ideas, ensuring that sustainable solutions are brought to scale and integrated into Assam’s growth trajectory.
