Empowering Farmers: SLRD’s Series of Awareness Building and Orientation Workshops for FPOs in Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya

The School of Livelihood and Rural Development (SLRD) successfully organized a series of Awareness Building and Orientation Workshops across different locations in Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya, during November and December 2024. These workshops aimed to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), empowering farmers to embrace sustainable agricultural practices, climate-resilient farming, and gender inclusivity.

Strengthening Sustainable Agricultural Practices Across the Region

The workshops collectively brought together farmers, FPO members, and stakeholders, focusing on critical themes such as sustainable agriculture, climate change mitigation, gender equality, and the wide range of support services available to farmer collectives. A significant emphasis was placed on the ongoing contributions of IVEES, the Small Grants Program (SGP), SLRD, and ATARI Zone VII, all working to promote agricultural sustainability in the region.

Farmers were encouraged to build partnerships and collaborative networks to amplify the impact of their initiatives and strengthen their FPOs.
