Pineapple farming has long been a significant livelihood source for farmers in Meghalaya, but its full potential remains untapped due to post-harvest challenges. To address this gap, the School of Livelihood and Rural Development (SLRD), in collaboration with ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII, and KvK Ri-Bhoi, organized an intensive one-day training program titled Maximizing Pineapple Profitability: Advanced Post-Harvest Techniques for Quality and Market Success. Held at the Marngar Cluster Farmers Producer Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd., Madanheh Village, the event brought together 31 eager participants seeking to refine their skills in value addition, processing, and marketing of pineapple products.

Setting the Stage for Innovation in Pineapple Farming
The training commenced with an introduction to Mission Vistaar and IVCESS, two major initiatives spearheaded by SLRD. These initiatives aim to empower Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) by strengthening capacity building, improving market access, promoting technology adoption, and ensuring financial sustainability. SLRD reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable and profitable income-generating activities that benefit both farmers and the environment.
