APPAREL MANUFACTURING AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT
SLRD has a well-equipped Apparel manufacturing and Training Facility in SW Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills – Shillong. It is involved in commercial production of Home Textiles and Garments as well as Training of Youth in pattern making and sewing both.
It has a capacity to make 20,000 units of garments in a month and to train 200 Youths per month in sewing/stitching of garments.
More recently SLRD has set up a sewing factory in West Garo Hills. The SLRD Center located near Ampati, covers an area of 150,000 square feet and has three units, two of them housing 105 sewing machines each, and the third one with seventy machines. This will directly employ over 1000 people not just from Hatisil but also villages in the surrounding areas.
