Mission Vistaar drives sustainable agriculture, agri-tech adoption, value chain development, market access, and eco-agri tourism to enhance incomes and resilience in rural communities.

Mission Vistaar is the cornerstone initiative of the School of Livelihood and Rural Development (SLRD), focused on transforming agriculture into a resilient, profitable, and sustainable livelihood pathway. It addresses the full agricultural ecosystem—from farm to market—empowering Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and rural communities across Northeast India.

Mission Vistaar promotes the adoption of climate-smart and sustainable agricultural technologies, improving productivity while conserving soil, water, and biodiversity. From organic practices to precision farming and low-cost mechanization, the initiative equips farmers with the tools and training they need for the future.

It emphasizes agri-value chain development, supporting post-harvest processing, packaging, branding, and logistics. By helping FPOs build business plans, access finance, and improve infrastructure, Mission Vistaar enables them to thrive in competitive markets.

Market connect is a strategic focus. The initiative links rural producers directly to institutional buyers, retail networks, and urban consumers, especially targeting IT companies and corporate workforces through curated healthy food baskets and farm-to-office models.

Recognizing the potential of rural experiences, Mission Vistaar also promotes agro-tourism and eco-tourism. These immersive offerings—such as biodiversity walks, cultural stays, and farming demonstrations—serve dual purposes: providing alternative income for farmers and raising awareness among consumers about sustainability.

Mission Vistaar is building a future-ready India—where communities prosper through innovation, ecological balance, and entrepreneurial spirit.
